Sins of the Father

Session 4: All This To Go To the Fuckin' Library

Into the Depths...

After journeying from Vahn’del for several days, our adventurers finally arrive in Redglade. They reach the library located in the Temple of Ioun, but the priests deny them access until they “prove their worthiness” (aka travel to a deep dark dungeon and recover an old artifact. They are given the task of retrieving an artifact of a long dead god of magic from a temple located well below modern Redglade. The story goes that the original Redglade was much smaller than the modern one and its history reaches back to before the Dragon Wars.

Zabra and Ubee travel to the tunnels beneath the city accompanied by a priest of Avandra that Lady Vahn’del arranged for them to meet. The newcomer, Xandreus seems a bit strange and off-putting but in a charming way. Most of that is probably due the fact that he is half-elven. In the depths beneath the city our adventurers cross paths with many vicious beasts and traps as they maneuver through ruins several millenia old. Eventually they find a pristine looking temple that bears the holy symbol of this long lost god. One riddle later they find themselves inside looking at three doors each with a symbol emblazoned upon it. They are a sickle, a tree, and an eye. Each contains a chest that seems to be virtually unopenable. After battling a mimic in one of the rooms, the group obtains valuable treasures that will be key to their future endeavors. Soon one of the chests reveals a passage deeper underground that ends in a freezing cold cavern of sorts.

The cavern is home to a young white dragon who happens to be guarding the very relic they are looking for. Risking everything, Ubee goes for it as all hell breaks loose. The group begins to run as they throw a red gem they found in one of the chests at the dragon. The gem (which turns out to be an elemental gem) summons a fire elemental that proceeds to battle with the dragon. When both lay defeated, the adventurers gather up the wealth as well as the relic (a shield bearing the holy symbol of the long lost god). Looks like they will live to fight another day…for now.
